The Liberation of Khorramshahr refers to the Iranian recapture of the city of Khorramshahr on May 24, 1982, during the Iran–Iraq War. The city had been captured by the Iraqis earlier in the war on October 26, 1980, shortly after the Iraqi invasion of Iran.
The statement highlighted the concurrence of the anniversary of liberation of Khorramshahr with Iran’s presidential election in 2021, adding that the coincidence recalls Iranian peoples’ unity during the difficult day of sanctions and conspiracies by the foes and that Iranians would defend the country through their presence in voting polls.
The experts in Iran’s defense industry are impatient to produce defense equipment to empower the country and will endeavor to defend the values of the Islamic Revolution to the death, the statement concluded.
